The following table provides a list of the range of services available at the surgery; this list of services is growing all the time so if the service you are interested is not listed below ask at reception to see if it is available from the surgery.
We provide a comprehensive service for antenatal and postnatal care; this is supported by the care provided by attached staff. Individual roles in the provision of this care are as follows:-
• Community midwife takes the lead role in the provision of midwifery care within the practice including visiting women at home.
• Our GPs support the midwife in this role, by providing a range of information, advice and access to treatment relating to antenatal and postnatal care.
• Health visitors offer home-based support and aim to promote good health by providing advice, information and support relating to a range of health-related issues.
We provide cervical screening (smears) as part of the NHS Cervical Screening Programme.
We provide childhood immunisations as part of the national programme.
Chronic Disease Management
Comprehensive management of the treatment of a range of chronic diseases (Diabetes, Heart Disease, COPD, Asthma, etc) is provides by the GPs and Nursing team.
Practice GPs and Nurses are available to provide general contraceptive advice as well as for emergency contraception.
The fitting of contraceptive devices / implants is available upon request and should be discussed with your GP.
This service is provided in Plymouth by Plymouth Options; Patients can be referred to this service by their GP or you can also self-refer
We offer a range of health checks which include NHS Health Checks, Blood Pressure, Smoking Status, Cholesterol Status, Learning Disabilities, etc. As one of the clinical team for details
An appointment should be made with a GP if you require a medical examination for such areas as Life Insurance, HGV, Army Medicals, Driving Licence, etc. The completion of pro-forma medical forms and reports is also covered under this service.
This is a private service for which a charge will be made. Where a charge applies you will be advised of the likely cost beforehand and should you subsequently agree to this charge you will be asked for payment before the form is completed.
Minor Operations / Joint Injections
The GPs at the surgery perform minor operations for certain conditions, such as removal of moles, skin tags, cysts, small lumps, etc. Consultation with a GP is required beforehand and all operations are performed in suitably equipped treatment rooms using a variety of techniques. We also provide joint injections.
Where a blood test is required by the surgery medical team or to aid monitoring of your condition we can arrange for this to be performed in surgery by a member of our nursing team.
Physiotherapy is available via a referral from your GP or Nurse Practitioner.
Quit Smoking (Smoking Cessation)
We can provide advice and support to help you quit smoking. If you would like to quit talk to our practice nurses and they will be able to help.
Seasonal Flu, Swine Flu and Pneumovax Vaccinations
We provide seasonal flu vaccinations as part of the yearly national campaign in the autumn / winter.
Swine Flu and Pneumovax vaccinations are also available, if eligible, upon request. If you have any doubt regarding whether you require to be vaccinated please do not hesitate to discuss this with a GP or Nurse who will be happy to advise you.
Practice GPs and Nurses are available to provide general advice relating to all sexual health matters.
Chlamydia Screening and Treatment are also available – please ask a member of the clinical team for details.
Tests and Results
We perform and/or arrange a variety of tests to aid with the diagnosis and management of any medical condition. All test results are reviewed by the GPs and action, where necessary, relayed to the patient.
If you wish to know your test results please do not hesitate to contact the surgery; after 11.00am daily.
We can provide travel information and where appropriate immunisations. If you require information regarding this service please speak to our practice Nurses.
The practice GPs and nurses supervise patients on warfarin treatment; arrange for blood tests and advise on blood test results and dosage. INR testing is performed on site using the INR Star System; this allows us to provide a same day service to patients whereby they are tested and their medication dosage confirmed at the surgery during the same appointment.
Wound Management (simple & leg ulcers) & Removal of Sutures
Our practice nursing team provide for all wound management (dressings) and removal of sutures.
